This is a very chic black wool coat that was made in France by Yves Saint Laurent.  The coat has a beautiful sleek line - padded shoulders, notched lapels, long sleeves with three button cuffs and a 23” kick vent.  It obviously takes its inspiration from the men’s topcoat. There is a flap at either side, either faux pockets or the pockets have not been opened - I think that I can feel a pocket under the lining, but I won’t try to open the seam.  The coat closes with one hidden button at the front, positioned just below the lapel, otherwise it is open down the front and is closed simply by overlap.   It is fully lined in a black acetate.  It has no interior pockets. 

Label: Yves Saint Laurent Paris Rive Gauche Made in France.  I believe that this label was used during the 1990s

Fabric label:  98% wool / 2% polyester.  The wool has a twill finish.

Sizing: The size label reads 40, which is equivalent to a US size 10, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit (compare measurements with a similar coat that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the garment into account):

Shoulders: 16” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 24 1/2” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 17 1/2”

Chest:  40” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  38” around

Hips:  41” around

Overall length:  51 1/2”, measured flat

Condition: It is in very clean condition with no stains, odors, wear or tears - this coat looks to have seen very little use and has been well cared for over the years.  Please note that I have lightened the photos in order to show the detail on the jacket - it is really black
